I’m answering a writing prompt posted by Sharon Meyers

  1. If you could jump into a pool of anything, what would it be full of

Anything? I’m pretty vanilla so I’d still just go with water. Anything else to me seems messy.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve eaten?

I don’t really eat weird things. I don’t even like ketchup. I would probably say something like mustard pretzels would be as adventurous as I’ve gotten.

What’s the silliest way you’ve ever gotten an injury?

I would say stepping on a nail and stepping on a lightening rod. I am up to three nails and a lightening rod now. My food seems to find them every 10 years — and is a streak I’d prefer to break. The first was when I was only 5 in a cow barn. I was about 15 when I ran a nail into my foot from some work of people building a garage onto our house.

My next was a lightning rod my husband had cut off at the ground. I went out to check on our phone connect (back when phone’s had cords) and happened to step down on the rod as I was trying to remove the cover of the box. The final nail was while cleaning at my mothers. A board had fallen off her shed — nail side up and of course my foot had to find it.

What is the weirdest thing in your home?

We have many odd things in our house, my husband is a physics professor and we definitely have a lot of tech. Everything from 3D printers to science experiments. The weirdest thing I would say though is some radioactive material my husband got to test a Geiger counter. In reality though that’s probably not that odd, did you know there is actually radioactive material in a smoke alarm?

If your phone could talk, what’s the most embarrassing thing it would reveal about you?

That I take pictures of parts of myself that I can’t see (like my back) when I think I have a bump or a sore spot…

Have you ever had a nickname?

I would say Maria — though in reality it was more like my name. In Kindergaten I came up with the idea to write a note saying my name had been changed. Somehow I got my mother to sign it and then I turned it into the school. My mother who assumed I was playing school or something…
