Juneteenth? Celebrate?

I just happened to notice someone discussing whether people that are white should celebrate Juneteenth. I also just saw an article about ‘10 things we want white people to do to celebrate Juneteenth.’ I have to admit I was excited to see that one since suggestions of what to do to be appropriate are things I love (and to do list).

Juneteenth is also known as Emancipation Day. Surprisingly it’s not the day that Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, but instead it’s the day when the last large group of enslaved people found out that they were ‘free’. The day was June 19, 1865, two…
