Understanding the Challenges: Why People with Autism Often Dislike Making Phone Calls
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals perceive the world and interact with others. One common challenge faced by many people with autism is difficulty in making phone calls. Why is an interesting question: I know I personally detest making phone calls. For me part of it comes from peoples trouble understanding me. I’ve also dealt with my mother giving me a hard time during every phone call that she listened in on, telling me all the things she felt I was doing wrong, such as saying uh-huh and yep. Every person with ASD is different, so this just looks at a few things I found that can contribute to a distaste for making calls. Personally I much prefer text, where I can think a little bit about my reply as opposed to needing immediate interactions.
